Had a suprise visit from an old friend last night, which screwed up my try-not-to-drink-in-the-week plans, but was most unexpected and pleasant, none the less. He has recently been (and is going) through an experience so utterly horrific that it makes anything I can possibly imagine (and, believe me, most things you can as well) pale into comparison.
Despite this ongoing trauma he seemed relaxed, accepting and almost zen-like in his approach and attitude. We talked freely into the early hours and I was left to marvel at the indomitability of the human (and more specifically said friend's) spirit. To be immersed in horrific events and still be able to talk about psych records, pulling innapropriate womenfolk and winklepickers is something of a testimony to our resillience as humans. I only hope that if such events were to happen to me, I would have similar strength.
On an unrelated note; have you checked out the remastered version of Talking Heads "Remain in the Light" yet? You owe it to yourself, my friend. One of the best albums ever just got better.
Righto, back to work.

Um, embarassingly enough I'm still getting my head round how to do things like that. Possibly not, as I only have a computer at work. But I'll look into it and let you know.
